To know and protect the Poles

The NGO le Cercle Polaire aims to develop and promote a true scientific understanding of the Arctic and Antarctic regions, and to encourage the preservation of the polar environments. Its work involves assessing the climatic, environmental, geopolitical and economic issues confronting the Arctic and the Antarctic, stressing the notion of “inhabited region” for the former. Greater knowledge of the Polar Regions is critical to understanding global climate dynamics and the processes behind global warming. The NGO le Cercle Polaire promotes the principles of international control over and management of the polar environments, through either the reinforcement of existing regulatory frameworks or the introduction of new regulations.
