John Harry Keys is a scientific advisor to the New Zealand Department of Conservation charged with conserving the natural and historic national heritage. A specialist in glaciology and vulcanology and member of the Committee for Environmental Protection, his role is to make recommendations concerning activities undertaken in the area covered by the Antarctic Treaty. He is a member of the International Glaciological Society.
